In our journey toward more conscious design, we’ve learned that responsibility isn’t just about creating less it’s about creating better. Our latest launch, the Suede Collection, is a reflection of that principle.
Below, we break down what makes this collection different, why we chose to work with circular suede, and how every detail has been carefully reconsidered.
Why we chose circular suede
For a long time, we avoided animal leather entirely. But after years of working with alternative materials, we realized that not all vegan options are as sustainable as they seem especially when it comes to durability, microplastic content, and recyclability.
That’s why we decided to introduce circular suede: a material that already existed. Instead of producing something new, we chose to transform a certified byproduct of the European food industry giving new purpose to what would otherwise go to waste.
This suede isn’t about going backwards. It’s about moving forward through real circularity.
Where it comes from and how it’s processed
The suede used in this collection comes from cowhide that was not produced for fashion, but rather recovered from the meat industry in Europe. The animals lived with space to graze and were not part of intensive industrial systems a fact we consider essential when making material choices.
The hides are then processed in Italy, under strict environmental regulations and chemical controls. The leather is tanned using chromium III (a safe, EU-approved process) and verified to be free of any harmful chromium VI residues. The result is a high-quality, durable suede, ready to be crafted.
Each pair of sneakers is finally made in Portugal, in audited workshops where we know the people, the process, and the standards.
What makes this collection different
We didn’t just change the material we used this opportunity to upgrade the product in every possible way:
Reinforced heel structure for better comfort and long-term shape retention.
New insoles with improved cushioning and support.
Softer, more durable cotton laces.
Embossed outsoles featuring the SAYE logo.
New packaging made from recycled cardboard, and a zippered fabric bag that invites reuse.
This collection is the most refined, most detail-driven line we’ve ever released.
