MERCERÍA CLARA

We are starting 2022 with this new collaboration with Mercería Clara. We have been cooking this collab for a while, because we wanted to dedicate a special editorial shoot for it.

We were first struck by Clara's concept of "Mercería" (haberdashery) she uses to describe her project, for the ability it has to combine a modern aesthetic and popular culture with tradition and craftsmanship.

Clara Rojas is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Amsterdam, her artistic practice began with photography, thanks to her obsession with the casual details found on the street in everyday life she created a photographic archive that evokes an urban aesthetic.

With this archive of photographs taken over 6 years she started the project "Mercería Clara" and was able to combine her photographs into unique garments using the sublimation technique, from pictures of paintings on walls to objects found in the rubbish, people going about their daily lives and many more.

She has been working on this project for more than a year combining it with her studies in the glass department of the "Gerrit Rietveld Academy" in Amsterdam, where she is developing other projects related to glass, projections and photographs as installations.
