NOT
JUST
VEGAN

In 2018 12 Milion pairs of shoes were produced from non-reusable or non-biodegradable virgin plastic. Currently 90% of the sneakers are made of plastic, a petroleum-based material.

With all that plastic waste in the ecosystem, it is not enough to just stop producing it. It must be reintroduced into the industrial chain.

The not just vegan sneaker.

In an excecise of Innovation, and after 1 year and a half of Reserach and Development, we have managed to make this upcycled sneaker, made with 100% recycled and recyclable fibers from recovered plastics.  Inspired by the Modelo'89 collection, this is our comittment to the vegan path.

While we keep up with our main values which include becoming a zero-waste brand, fighting for fair production working conditions, and keep funding the growth of thousand trees in the most neede ares of the Planet.

Upcycling.

Upcycling consists of recycling materials or products that have fallen out of use in order to turn them into higher quality or more useful products.
Plastic bottles, cotton recycled from textile industry cuttings, recycled polyester: our recycled materials give household waste a second life, and allow us to create a range of fabrics according to season and use.

La Napa Versus contains a volume of 39% of RPET fibers certified with the GRS in origin by the supplier Industrias Ferré and in the preparation of the piece by Poveda Textil.

Item Category: PET RECOVER Fibers. From post consumer fibers (discarded garments) and different recycled and reintroduced PET articles. These fibers are 100% RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE.

Item Category: PET RECOVER Fibers. From post consumer fibers (discarded garments) and different recycled and reintroduced PET articles. These fibers are 100% RECYCLED AND RECYCLABLE.

On the outside, the Napa article is made up of 61% of the article of a PU base.
It is a high quality PU (HIGH SOLID) from the Italian supplier IRS. This PU is also free of DMF’s (dimethyl formaldehyde), a substance that if absorved by the skin can occur in liver damage for long exposed workers.

LINING

The Ultrasuede is made up of 50% of RPET Post consumer PET goods with traceability GRS from start to finish.  It is a 100% recycled and recyclable material. Examples are plastic bottles and other recycling items that are thrown into the yellow container; they come mainly from a recycling PET plant in Alicante (Spain).

The remaining 50% of the item is a VIRGIN PES to ensure mechanical properties of the item. This item is VEGAN certified by INESCOP.

OUTSOLE

The outsole made of 30% natural Rubber and 70% synthetic rubber (SBR) as this mix allows maximum performance and comfort.

Using only natural rubber would mean production problems as it is a material too flexible to work with. Apart from that, 100% natural rubber outsoles are more slippery and they get worn out more easily too.

We are in our way to introducing high recycled rubber.

INSOLE

Insole is made of 60% with 95% Recycled Arnetech PU and 40% PU.

+ Ultrasuede RE 50% Post consumer PET, 50% PES, Backing 50% Recycled cotton 50% cotton (LINING VEGAN INESCOP + GRS CERTIFIED). Strobel part made of 100% recycled fibers.

LACES

Laces are made of organic cotton (100%) (GOTS). Puffs with woodchips.

PACKAGING

We use 100% recycled boxes and paper manufactured in Portugal with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certifications.

When timber leaves an FSC or PEFC certified forest we ensure companies along the supply chain meet our best practice standards, so when a product bears the FSC / PEFC logo, you can be sure it’s been made from responsible sources. In this way, both certifications help forests remain thriving environments for generations to come, by helping you make ethical and responsible choices.
